Change Happens – Embrace It!
One of the blogs I follow is Arlin Sorensen and his Peer Power Blog. Arlin is a very dear friend and someone I look up to in the Information Technology industry. During the past 24 months as I looked for the “what next” in my life, Arlin was there to guide and give me a virtual slap when I needed it.
I highly recommend you visit his blog at http://peerpower.blogspot.com and sign up to follow his words of wisdom. Most of it is about the MSP business but there is messages buried in the posts that anyone can use in their business.
One of most recent messages Arlin had to share was about change and I know change quite well. Over the past 24 months I sold out of IT Matters and that company is no gone, part of ES Williams out of Grande Prairie. I did a short one year term with another IT company in Calgary and recently joined up with David West to get Ulistic off the ground. So I went from IT Professional to Calgary Social Media Consultant and MSP Marketing Professional.
This was not the first major shift and definitely not the last. Who knows what will happen when David and I are in our 50′s. Ultimately I would love to become a business coach and working hard towards this through Ulistic and learning from other peers.
But change does occur in our life. Sometimes we kick off the change and sometimes change happens outside of our control. Arlin mentioned in his blog:
- Resist it, fight it, refuse to take part
- Grumble about it, drag our feet, grudgingly move toward it
- Embrace it, support it, lead others through it
My personality type is one that loves change. I sometimes change things up just to break up the boredom and yes I know this can drive people crazy. Sometimes people referred to me as a “bull in a china shop“ and sometimes my love and passion for change has put relationships in jeopardy. I love point 3. Embrace Change, Support Change and I need to do a better job of leading others through it.T
Thanks Arlin for another great blog post.
Why does Ulistic exist?
Gone are the days of focus on what we do, and welcome to the days of why we do what we do. Simply put, Ulistic is here to serve and offer the foundation on which MSPs can build to reach and maintain stratospheric success.
This is my pledge to the IT community. You can call me, email me or track me down around the clock.
